The Year, She Turns

Jennifer Crook

"The Year, She Turns, Jennifer Crook's magnificent musical almanac... would be very difficult to say which of these tracks are my favourite. Simply adore them all." Fatea Magazine January 2017.

Inspired by the months and the seasons, Jennifer wrote, recorded, and released a song every month throughout 2016. The Year, She Turns' limited edition CD has brand new enhanced versions of each song, as well as some additional audio treats not found on the monthly releases.

"There was no grand plan. I just decided to trust the creative process, and began. Every month presented a new challenge, and a new reason to be grateful for the way these songs and recordings have unfolded. This album is the harvest of my musical year. My heartfelt thanks go to all of the beautiful souls who gave their time, talent and enthusiasm, and helped me to keep my promise.
This is for all our personal journeys around the sun." Jennifer x

Sea Glass

Jennifer Crook

Beautiful atmospheric single from songwriter Jennifer Crook evoking the fragility of our natural environment and of human life. Even within the aching sadness of grief and goodbyes we can see glimmers of hope and beauty...
"I absolutely love that"- Mark Radcliffe, The Folk Show, BBC Radio 2 (May 2020)

Jennifer wrote Sea Glass for Miranda Sykes' album Borrowed Places in 2017, inspired by a story of loss and the difficulties of saying the goodbye to a dear friend for the last time. Miranda is currently going through breast cancer treatment and Jennifer would be very grateful if you are able to make a donation to help her friend at this time: www.paypal.me/sykesbass

Based on a true story, Jennifer’s folk influences wash up on the shores of a modern dilemma: the age-old tradition of sending a message in a bottle out to sea alongside our current concerns about ocean pollution. The hope is that we can begin to turn back the tide on climate change, and that heartache and loss can be transformed in time into something beautiful: like sea glass.
